Manifesting Imagination: A Journey into My Visionary Art

My journey through art is a vibrant exploration of my unique past realities and present perspectives. Visionary art reflects not only my imagination but also delves into my inner psyche, aiming to convey messages, evoke emotions, and spark conversations.

As an emerging Oklahoma visionary artist, my exploration began as a personal quest for expression, later recognized as one of the first twenty in 2023. A couple decades of mixing digital art and photography felt mundane, while all forms of ink led me to a deeper investigation of my consciousness and the collective human experience. There is a profound dialogue between me and my creations; my ink pens and paintbrushes breathe life into silent mixed media paper. After printing on canvas with wood backing, I enhance my work with oils, adding textures, relief and sometimes resin to bring my creations to life.

My artwork uniquely blends the otherworldly with the familiar, using multimedia to evoke curiosity and invite viewers into the essence of my thoughts—even without knowing my exact focus.

As a veteran with over five years of service, I have advocated for my brothers and sisters both locally and nationally, and I strive to do the same in the arts within my state. I aim to challenge conventional views and inspire a shift in awareness of self taught artists.

My creative journey is ongoing, expansive, and my tools are always ready for the next revelation.

I come from a small town called Estacada, Oregon, nestled in the vast Mount Hood Wilderness. I resided there until the age of 19 when I enlisted in the US Army, serving for a duration of five and a half years. Following my medical discharge caused by unsuccessful sternum, right eardrum and foot surgeries, I permanently relocated to Oklahoma in September 2003.

I have two incredibly intelligent humans I birthed. My adult son is attending machine learning at Atlas (formerly known as Holberton) finishing his last year while working at Bodeans. My daughter is a sophomore at Booker T. Washington High School, in AP classes, band, plays rugby for TRFC and works with her dad, Woody in the Summit building located in downtown Tulsa.
The last decade I’ve been on numerous military veteran boards, committees nationally, and even President of an 80 year old veteran entity. With both my children older and venturing away from their mother, I’m finally a full time artist and moving towards helping other outsiders be seen in the art world at the prime old age of 46. When away from my kids and art, I spend time on my scooters, traveling in our giant prepper van, taking images and manipulating their flatness, enjoying my status of a mom with grown kids, and planning our retirement to my old mountain and forest near a river.

From birth, I was immersed in art due to my mother's genetic artistic talent. Growing up surrounded by art, it became a significant part of my life, even during my time in the military where I incorporated artistic elements into my doodles. Over the years, I have experimented with various art forms and mediums, from traditional techniques, photography to digital art. My artistic journey has been a process of exploration and experimentation, leading me to create captivating and thought-provoking pieces that defy traditional conventions. While I never pursued formal art education, I have drawn inspiration from my surroundings and unified the skills I've acquired to develop my unique artistic style.

My life.
